Why the Gadfly?
When Socrates stood trial in 399 BC, he warned his accusers that killing him would do greater harm to Athens than himself. He argued that his role in Athens was that of the gadfly; a necessary source of annoyance against the vices of the status quo that moves a population into right action, as a biting fly moves an idle horse.
The Gadfly report is committed to challenging the narratives of the day with the same spirit that Socrates once exuded. In a world destined for chaos, the Gadfly Report is here to speak hard truths out of charity and to call men to effective action that stretches their capacity to fight for what is true, good, and one.
